About the Cluster
The West Midlands Cyber Cluster is the community-funded, practitioner-led organisation representing and supporting the growth of the regional cyber economy.
To create the connections, infrastructure and opportunities needed for West Midlands cyber businesses and practitioners to start, grow, scale and contribute to regional resilience.
For the West Midlands to become the UK’s leading region for industrial cyber resilience and supply-chain security.
The region does not lack cyber activity. It already contains specialist SMEs, consultancies, universities, workforce programmes, resilience organisations and active practitioner communities. The challenge is fragmentation. Businesses can form and participate, but many struggle to access commercial validation, major customers, procurement opportunities, growth capital, experienced scale-up support and long-term visibility.
The Cluster exists for the organisations and people that participate in it.
Governed by people who have built and scaled businesses in the region.
We work with existing organisations rather than competing with them.
We add what is missing and avoid recreating what already works.
Progress is measured by company growth, jobs and access, not activity volume.
Income is reinvested into activity that benefits the wider community.
The Cluster will be governed through an independent, practitioner-led structure representing cyber SMEs and founders, established businesses, community organisations, universities and colleges, investors, buyers and security leaders, and public-sector and resilience partners.
The final legal entity, governance structure and board composition are being agreed and will be published here in full once confirmed. The Architecture Brief requires this to be transparent, so nothing is claimed until it is settled.
The Cluster represents the wider community, capability and economic ambition of the region. The West Midlands Cyber Hub provides the physical space, coordination platform and delivery environment through which much of that ambition becomes practical activity. The Hub is not the whole ecosystem; it coordinates and enables it.
We work with government, public bodies and institutional partners, but we are not dependent on a single controlling institution. Regional partners include TechWM, IAWM, WMCRC, Aston University, Midlands Cyber and Sustainability West Midlands.
